Lancaster is an English county. During the Wars of the Roses, the English crown bounced back and forth between the nobility in York and Lancaster. The Lancastrian Queen in question here is Marguerite d’Anjou, the wife of Henry VI.

Like I mentioned in my reply to Jen, I’m still at the beginning, but so far I’m really enjoying it. Penman’s got some pretty good details. I believe it will only get better.
