Autumn is starting (here in the US, anyway), and kids are heading back to school–does the changing season change your reading habits? Less time? More? Are you just in the mood for different kinds of books than you were over the summer?

My reading habits definitely change over the shift from summer to fall. During the summer, I like light reads that don’t take too much effort, but once fall comes around, I’m usually up for something more substantial, or something that’s going to be more of an investment of my time. I still do some light reading, but I’m more likely to embrace a series or something that’s much longer. For example, I was reading a lot of short or easy reads last summer (in 2007), and spent the better part of the fall working my way through Outlander (I’m still reading the series, but seem to have stalled on the fourth book, Drums of Autumn). Unfortunately, though, I don’t always have as much time to read during autumn, particularly when I am in school (as I am now).

This autumn, I’m planning to continue DoA (and hopefully work my way around to getting through the other books in the series that have been released). I’m also continuing my Dumas Marathon; I spent a bit of time yesterday with The Three Musketeers.
