Most of us book bloggers like to write book reviews- if we don’t love to write book reviews- but here’s today’s question. When it comes to LT (and your blog), do you review every book you read? Do you just review Early Reviewers or ARCs? Do you review only if you like a book, or only if you feel like you have to? How soon after reading do you post your review? Do you post them other places- other social networking sites, Amazon, etc.?

Ah, reviewing. Sometimes I love doing it, particularly when I really enjoyed a book. I want to be able to tell people what an amazing book it is, and I want them to read it, too. Sometimes, I don’t love it. This happens when I don’t feel that anything I have to say will significantly add to the discussion of the book. If other people have already said what I’m thinking, my review becomes redundant. But over the course of the last six months, I’ve tried to get into the habit of reviewing every book I complete.

When it comes to posting reviews on LT, I always review my Early Reviewer books. So far, I’ve only posted one of my Early Reviewer reviews on my blog as well, and that was the most recent review (for The Uncommon Reader). I wasn’t in the habit of posting reviews on my blog regularly for my first two books (The Winter Rose by Jennifer Donnelly and Imagine Me and You by Billy Mernit), and I still haven’t been able to force myself to finish Any Given Doomsday. And when I do, I’m not sure I want to put it on my blog. It was the first book I’d ever actively wished I hadn’t requested. It’s just not a very good story, at least in terms of my literary tastes.

I usually try to at least write a review within a few days of completing a book. If real life doesn’t cooperate, I will try to come back to that book and review it as soon as possible. For the most part, I can move on to the next book and not confuse myself too badly. The exception to this is series books. I won’t begin the next book in a series if I haven’t already written my review for the preceding book, because I will confuse plot lines.

As of right now, I only post my reviews on my blog and on LT. This is a touch confusing at the moment because I’ve got two book blogs, and they’re both going to get the same reviews for the next six months to a year. I’m slowly transitioning from my LiveJournal blog to a WordPress blog of the same name.

What about you? What are your reviewing habits?
