This week on the Blog Improvement Project, the task is to brainstorm some content ideas, and come up with a feature that makes your blog unique. I had a couple ideas about this, and I wanted to see which (if any) my readers were interested in. I’ve listed my top two ideas below. Whichever one I pick will end up being a weekly or bi-weekly feature, and I would probably post it on Tuesday or Wednesday (maybe Wednesday, since I’m toying with the idea of participating in Teaser Tuesdays). I know which one I’m leaning towards, and I’d kind of like to see where the people who read my blog go.
- Historical time periods or figures: Once a week or so, I would blog about a historical figure or time period, tell a little bit about them, and mention books (fiction and non-fiction) on the subject. Because I’m not nearly as well-read as I would like to be, I probably wouldn’t be able to provide personal recommendations for everything, but I think it would be fun to explore some topics I’m not familiar with- and maybe we’ll all learn something fun and interesting.
- The 1001 Diaries: This would kind of be in conjunction with my 1001 Diaries blog (which is badly in need of an update). Once every two weeks or so, I would share a review on an album I’d listened to or a movie I’d watched from the 1001 lists, and those who don’t follow that blog can monitor my progress.
So what do you think? Which would you prefer to see here on Reading and Ruminations?
Edited to add: I’ve made my decision, and it falls along the same lines as what everyone else has been commenting: I’m going to have a new weekly or bi-weekly feature called Highlighting History. For more information, see my post here. Look for the first Highlighting History post next week.
