The subtitle of this post could be “Or, Reading and Ruminations goes on hiatus again.”
As most of you know, I’ve never been an especially prolific blogger. I don’t read at the speed of some, and I’m not as chatty as others. And that’s fine. I wouldn’t be me if I was. Book blogging wasn’t something I actively set out to do; I fell into it before book blogging was Book Blogging, and it wasn’t something I did actively. I loved to read, and I wanted to share that love of my favorite books with others. This blog has never really been for anyone but me, but lately, I feel like it’s not even that anymore. Every post I sit down to write has become a chore. And I don’t like that feeling at all.
More importantly, my love of reading has kind of fallen by the wayside. Don’t get me wrong. I still love to read. But I don’t relish it the way I used to. I think part of the reason for that is that I’m not especially excited about some of the books I’ve been reading. For whatever reason, nothing has really resonated with me in a while. Couple that with the turbulence going on in real life, and it just makes for a hot mess of not reading and not blogging.
With that being said, for the rest of April, as well as for the month of May, I am officially going on hiatus. I am going to spend the time reacquainting myself with my books and reading for me, without thought to what I’m going to say in my review- if I even review the book at all. I am going to find a way to reclaim my groove, and I am going to get back on the proverbial horse.
I may pop in on weekends to do Sunday Salon posts, and I am going to still be on Twitter, so I will be around. But I will see you all in June.
