Thanks for dropping by Reading and Ruminations! I’m Shauna, and I’ve been the owner and mastermind of Reading and Ruminations since January 2005. I started out over on LiveJournal, stagnated for a few years, and moved here to WordPress in December 2008.
About me: I’m a paralegal in a small law firm in my small-ish hometown in the greater Sacramento area. I spent what felt like a million years in college studying History and English, and I have a Bachelor’s Degree in History, as well as a paralegal certificate. In my spare time, my non-reading and blogging hobbies include crocheting and vegging in front of the TV, and hanging with my roommate and our neurotic cats.
About Reading and Ruminations: Reading and Ruminations began as a pet project on LiveJournal in 2005. At the time, I wasn’t much aware that there was such thing as a book blogging community; I just wanted to have a way to keep track of the books I was reading and get comments from my LJ friends. Posts were sporadic, but it was a good place to start. Once I discovered other book bloggers in 2008, I decided to move on to a new kind of platform, which brought me to WordPress, where I’ve been very happy for the last three years.
In general, I read and review general literary fiction, historical fiction, classics, the occasional young adult fiction, and the occasional (history) non-fiction work or memoir. I don’t read or review much genre fiction or most non-fiction, children’s books, poetry or self-help.
I am happy to accept certain books for review. Please see my review policy, linked at the top of all pages. I do not accept self-published books, and I do not accept e-books.
